Islamabad (June 25, 2017): President Mamnoon Hussain says Pakistan appreciates Chinese efforts to bring peace in Afghanistan.
He was talking to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi who called on him in Islamabad on Sunday.
The President said this initiative will ultimately establish peace in the region.
President said Pakistan values Chinese positive role for sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan.
On this occasion the Chinese Foreign Minister said Pakistan has the potential to play a role for peace in the region.
He said Pakistan, China and Afghanistan should hold a joint meeting to discuss peace efforts.
Earlier a high level talks between Pakistan and China were held in Islamabad on Saturday. Bilateral relations were discussed in the meeting in detail.
Pakistani side was led by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is led his country’s delegation.
Entire gamut of bilateral relations and regional situation were discussed during the meeting.
The two leaders held detailed discussions on the entire range of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction on the progress achieved.
Both sides agreed to continue cooperation in all spheres of bilateral relations, a foreign office statement issued here said.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad here on two-day visit to discuss the bilateral ties.
Upon his arrival, the Chinese foreign minister was warmly received by Punjab chief minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
During his visit, the Chinese foreign minister will meet Pakistan leadership to discuss bilateral ties and the regional situation.
