At Least 46 dead, Thousands Displaced Due to Rain in India

Assam(July 10, 2017): The Assam floods have become a matter of concern for the entire country. As  death toll in Assam reaches 27, whereas, 19 people have been died due to lightning in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Heavy rains refused to take a back seat from the north eastern state even yesterday. The region has been reeling under flooding for quite some time now.

The Assam chief minister after assessing the flood situation has asked his cabinet ministers to step up rescue operations, take note of the flood situation as well as ensure that all facilities are given to the once who have been affected in the floods.

At least 4.5 lakh people have been affected due to the floods in 17 districts of Assam including Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Sonitpur, Majuli, Nagaon, , Chirang and other adjoining areas.

While there has been a very slight improvement in the flood conditions, rains will continue to last the state of Assam during the next 24 to 48 hours. Thus, significant relief is not expected anytime soon.
