PM Chairs Consultative Meeting, Discusses Post Hearing Scenario

Islamabad (July 17, 2017): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday chaired a consultative meeting following the first hearing of the Panama case after submission of JIT report in the Supreme Court.

Legal experts briefed the attendees after the Supreme Court held the first hearing over the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). The reply submitted by the prime minister’s legal team was also discussed, added sources.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers, advisers and special assistants to the prime minister at the PM House.

Further course of action, after the opposition’s submitted their reply, was also came under discussion.The meeting also discussed a counter strategy to respond to the opposition parties’ protest policy.

Meanwhile, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House.

This was the Speaker’s second meeting with the premier in recent days.Sadiq discussed with the prime minister the National Assembly’s proceeding in context of prevailing situation.

Legal matters were also came under discussion in the meeting.

Earlier, the apex court held proceedings of the Panama Papers case following the submission of the JIT report on July 10.

The Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had also earlier submitted their objections on the JIT report to the court.http://abbtakk.tv/en/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/SC-Panama-1.jpgThe JIT, formed in light of the apex court’s April 20 judgment to probe the Sharif family’s money trail, submitted its 60-day investigation report to the court on July 10.

The report highlighted the failure of the Sharif family to provide a money trail for its London apartments and claimed the prime minister and his children own assets beyond their known sources of income.

Following the report’s submission, the special bench issued notices to all parties to submit their responses.
