Bilawal Advises All to Accept Verdict Whole Heartedly

Karachi (July 28, 2017): Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday expressed hope that the apex court verdict will help in deterring corruption in high offices.

According to the details, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that no party should think of personal benefit but country’s at current situation and denied branding the verdict a judicial martial law as claimed by some sections.

“The verdict has disapproved the contention that disqualification posed threat to democracy,” said the PPP chairman.

“The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has delivered the verdict. It is obligatory upon all to accept the verdict whole heartedly,” Bilawal quoted former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s words to begin the press conference.

Bilawal started the press conference with quote of Benazir Bhutto: “Nawaz Sharif may succeed in conspiring against me but one day he will cry and remember me and my father.”

He added that PPP has always supported democracy and state institutions.

Bilawal said that the verdict would ensure corruption-less authority all up to the top level.

He said that the people would elect their next government in General Elections 2018 and they are the mandate-bestowing authority in the matter.

PPP chief said that he is neither a lawyer nor a judge and that is why he would not go into whether the top court disqualified the premier on weak ground or not. PPP would decide with party consensus its course-of-action for the upcoming elections and the seat he would occupy if the party comes in power.

Bilawal said that the rule of law is the utmost priority of everybody and the money laundered out of the country should be brought back.

He asserted that had it been the government of PPP defending Panama Leaks case, it would have been sent home on April 4, 2016, a day after the leak was published.

The PPP chief denied to brand it a judicial martial law and responded to a question by saying that he did not devour sweets to celebrate the verdict.

He said that he is not familiar with the details of cases against PTI chief Imran Khan. He ended the press conference by saying that Pakistan has won after the top court’s verdict, not any party.

“Nawaz not presenting himself before the parliament for accountability undermined the house.”

Bilawal also said the PPP is in consultation with other parties and will file a candidate for the post of prime minister. He also said the PPP supports “accountability across the board”.

He said it is imperative for all political parties to accept the apex court verdict.

“The PPP is an ideological party and we will stay with the ideology we have followed since the inception of the party,” further said the PPP chairman.

Answering a question, Bilawal said the PPP is ready for every situation and further said that plans have been made and will be followed through.

The Supreme Court announced its verdict in the Panama Papers case, disqualifying Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for failing to disclose his un-withdrawn receivables constituting assets from UAE-based Capital FZE in his nomination papers for the 2013 elections.

Following the announcement of the verdict, Nawaz Sharif stepped down from the post of prime minister.
