At Least 20 Injured in London Underground Train Explosion

London(September 15, 2017): At least 20 people were injured in the explosion with many commuters suffering facial burns. 

London emergency services confirmed 18 people were taken to hospital following the incident while people are said to have suffered facial burns after a reported blast in a bucket towards the rear of the District Line train.

Others are said to have been trampled on in the rush to escape. The explosion occurred at 8:20 a.m. on a District Line train as it left the Parsons Green station in Southwest London.

Prime Minister Theresa May tweeted: “My thoughts are with those injured at Parsons Green and emergency services who are responding bravely to this terrorist incident.”

Terrified commuters ‘ran for their lives’ after an explosion on a London Underground train. People fled in panic and jumped out train doors after a ‘fireball flew down the carriage’, leaving several passengers with serious facial burns on the packed rush hour train in Parsons Green, west London.

“I knew it was a bomb when I saw people with charred hair and burnt faces,” Ms. Belford said. “This has got to be terrorism, a bag full of explosive materials don’t just appear on a train by accident.”

However, train services through the area have been halted with commuters reporting a “security incident”.
