PCB Chief Selector Inzamam Hints at Return of Salman Butt

Lahore(September 25, 2017): Pakistan, off-late has been high on giving another chance to it’s tainted, yet talented players, to make a comeback in the national fold.

Prime example is of Mohammad Amir, who came back to Pakistan side after a hiatus of six years, being caught for spot fixing in 2010, in a test against England.

Pakistani selectors have reportedly derived a plan to ‘reintegrate’ Butt into the national team, after the left-handed batsman made a strong return to cricket post serving his spot-fixing ban for five years.

Chief Selector Inzamam added that Butt cannot be included immediately into the senior side’s plans but he remains in PCB’s plans for the future. For the time being, Butt could well make his comeback into the Pakistan A team.

“We are trying not to push him directly into international cricket, after such a long hiatus, and try him out during the tours of Pakistan A, so Salman Butt is still in consideration for the future,” he informed.

“He was there in our high-performance camp and he was exceptional. It’s fantastic to see that a player has been out for five years but still maintained a high standard of fitness.
