Asif Demands Afghanistan to Clear Terrorists Safe Hideouts

Islamabad (November 6, 2017): Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif has demanded Afghanistan to clear its territory of safe terrorist hideouts.

He made the demand while speaking at the meeting of Pak-America Track 2 Dialogue.

During the meeting the US ambassador to Pakistan David Hale said that his country wants a decisive action against the Haqqani network outfit. He also agreed with Asif’s demand saying that terrorists hideouts in Afghanistan should be destroyed.

Asif also demanded the US to limit India’s role in Afghanistan and asked the US to provide information to Pakistan about terrorists so Pakistan could take action against them.

The prevalent situation in the region are fostering challenges.

Ambassador Hale said that US wants long lasting solutions of conflicts in South Asia region.

It may be mentioned here this was the fourth meeting of Pak-America Track 2 Dialogue in which Pakistan was represented by Khawaja Asif while ambassador David Hale represented the US.

Addressing the meeting Asif said that the new US policy over South Asia region has created unwanted intricacies that are giving way to more challenges in the region. Pakistan wants US not to leave Afghanistan in a hurry, he added.

Talking to media after the meeting Asif said that Pakistan wants peace in the region. He also asked the US to limit India’s role in Afghanistan. Much still remains to be done by the Afghan government for cleaning the safe houses of terrorism from its soil. Afghanistan is facing corruption while narcotics trade also poses a big challenge to Afghanistan, he added.

Ambassador Hale also stressed on the need for the clearance of tension between Pakistan and India. Terming India a rising economy the US ambassador called India’s role in Afghanistan as important.
