Babar Becomes Only Batsman to Score 5 Straight ODI 100s in UAE

Abu Dhabi (October 17, 2017): Middle order batsman of Pakistani cricket squad Babar Azam has become world’s first batsman to score five centuries in five straight ODI matches at UAE grounds.

Babar not only scored second straight century in the second ODI match against Sri Lanka. He stood tall and hitting after Pakistan had lost six wickets at 101 runs and formed a 109 precious partnership with team mate Shadab Khan to help Pakistan win the match.

Babar added 101 precious runs in 133 runs in yesterday’s ODI. It was his second century against Sri Lanka and his career’s seventh. Babar had scored 117, 123, and 120 centuries in three ODI matches against West Indies in the UAE.

Babar Azam had smashed his third consecutive hundreds in the third and final ODI against West Indies at Sheikh Zaid stadium Abu Dhabi on October 5 last year to become the third Pakistani to have scored three consecutive One-Day hundred. He had also became the youngest batsman of test cricket history to achieve the feat. The young top order batsman had scored 117 runs in just 106 balls in the third Odi against West Indies.

It may be mentioned here that in January this year Babar joined the likes of Sir Vivian Richards and Kevin Pietersen among those to have taken least innings to score their first 1,000 ODI runs. Babar had achieved the feat in 21 innings.
