Apex Court to Resume Imran Disqualification Case Today

Islamabad (September 26, 2017): The Three-member bench of top court will resume the hearing of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s disqualification case from today.

Earlier, Imran Khan had submitted reply to Supreme Court over the money trail of Bani Gala saying it was an issue between husband and wife hence it did not declarable to any authority.

According to the details, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Monday has submitted original documents of money trail regarding London flat’s sale and purchase of Bani Gala land in Supreme Court (SC).

In the trail, Khan said that two installments of Bani Gala land were paid through personal sources. Rs6.5 million was shown as a gift from his ex-wife Jemima in tax statements while it was also mentioned that she paid all the installments except first one and the last one.Imran Khan said, in his reply, that the issue of payment to Jemima Goldsmith for Bani Gala residence was a matter between a husband and a wife, and hence is not declarable to any authority.

In his supplementary concise statement submitted to the top court, Imran said he had never changed his position relating with his position on Bani Gala residence.According to the PTI chief, the issue had been settled between him and his former wife between June 30, 2003 and July 1, 2002, leaving nothing to be declared to any authority, including the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The statement added that the London apartment was sold on April 14, 2003. There were no foreign assets to be declared before the ECP or Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as there were no assets in London on the cut-off date i.e. June 30, 2003, of the respective statement.

PTI chief continued that Bani Gala land was under Jemima’s name from the start as she gave money for it. He said that London flat was sold at 117500 pounds which was purchased by foreign income.

He further assured that all relevant original documents have been provided and requested to make them part of the record. The petitions, filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi last year, seek the PTI chief’s disqualification for presenting “contradictory statements about the ownership of Bani Gala land and misstating the party’s foreign funding sources”.

Imran has requested the SC to make all the documents part of the record in this connection.
