Courts work as per laws: CJP Saqib Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Addressing Imran Khan during the hearing of the illegal construction in Banigala the Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar said that being leader of the nation puts heavy responsibility on his shoulders because one call by him could turn something damaging into constructive.

The chief justice Pakistan said this during while heading the three-member bench of the apex court which heard the suo moto over the illegal construction in Banigala.

The submission submitted in the court by Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that the administration imposed restriction on the sales and purchase of real estate in Banigala on March 22 and banned construction there after writing a letter to  to the Supreme Court while Section 144 is also being imposed on tree cutting and damaging natural beauty. The Union Council approved plan over illegal building while housing schemes, power, and gas connections are being given without any planning and without the permission of CDA. Many marriage halls and marquees are being constructed in the area while encroachment mafia rules most of the CDA’s land.

The reply submitted by CDA  also informed that waters of Rawal Lake is getting polluted because a substantial quantity of the sewerage makes its way into the Lake. In addition housing schemes were approved by the Circle Registrar without the permission of the CDA and all the restriction and important directions have been released to the media.

Addressing Imran Khan during the hearing the chief justice further said that we all including yourself have to respect the courts. I ask every leader to pursue into the right direction, the people approach courts because they have trust in them, we have to bring the environment of mistrust. You are a busy man, you don’t need to come to court on every hearing, send a good legal team that could assist us, the chief justice added.
