Bhawalpur: Chak 97, Canal Breach Causes Destruction, Havoc

Bhawalpur (June 22, 2017): A breach in a branch canal has destroyed crops standing over hunderds of acres and pose threat of collapsing of dozens of kutcha houses.

According to details a breach in DNB Dera Nawab branch-canal in Chak No. 97 here has inundated a vast area of land including hundreds of acres of standing crops. The flood has also caused damages to many houses.

The residents of the area complained that despite being intimated no authorities of the Irrigation Department did not do anything to fill the breach.

The residents are trying to fill the breach on self-help basis on their own.

People of the area expressed concerns that dozens of kutcha houses would collapse if rescue operation delayed.

It may be mentioned here that Bhawalpur was lashed by 45 millimeter of rain yesterday. Cities and towns all across the city were lashed by heavy rains yesterday.
