Ch Nisar Terms Trump’s Support to Modi Regretful

Islamabad (June 27, 2017): Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar reacting over US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Modi meeting said that Trump’s support to extremist Narindra Modi regretful and concerning.

Ch Nisar said that India was attempting to declare Kashmir Freedom Movement as terrorist movement, and for the purpose Modi visited US.

“Trump administration started speaking Indian language and its support to Modi is regretful and concerning,” Nisar said.

Nisar said the US administration was siding with India, which was not only involved in grave human rights violations in Indian occupied-Kashmir (IOK) but had also been portraying the legitimate freedom movement there as terrorism from the very beginning.

“Ignoring the worst form of state terrorism [in IOK] does not only mock justice and international norms, but also exposes the dual standards of those upholding human and democratic rights.”

In this situation, Nisar maintained, it was the need of hour to exhibit national unity and resilience and assure our Kashmiri brethren that Pakistan and its people would not stop extending political, diplomatic and moral support to them.

Ch Nisar also deplored the US decision to declare Kashmiri leader and Supreme commander Hizbul Mujahideen Salahudin terrorist and said the decision was condemnable and against the Kashmir movement.

US Declares Kashmiri Leader Salahuddin Global Terrorist

The minister reiterated that Pakistan would continue to struggle until Kashmiris were given their rights as per the requirements of justice and the resolutions of the United Nations.

The US State Department on Monday designated Hizbul Mujahideen’s supreme commander Syed Salahuddin as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) and imposed sanctions on him.

The development surfaced hours ahead of the scheduled meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

The action bars US persons from financial transactions with Hizbul Mujahideen supreme leader Syed Salahuddin.

Pakistan Protest 

Pakistan declared unjust the move to designate Kashmiris struggling for right to self-determination as terrorists.

Foreign Office Spokesperson while reacting to India’s move to brand Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin as ‘global terrorists’.

The spokesman said that Pakistan was against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Nafees Zakaria in a statement today stated that the people of Pakistan had rendered immense sacrifices in both blood and material to end terrorism, which has been acknowledged by the international community.
