Nepotism, Corrupt Practices Continue in Sindh Culture Dept

Karachi (September 15, 2017): The nepotism, malpractices and corrupt practices in Sindh Culture and Tourism Department go on with impunity as Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Sardar Shah sacked a BPS-18 officer of Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) allegedly to accommodate his friend.

Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Sardar Shah had approved promotion of STDC officer Ghulam Murtaza to BPS-18 on December 16, 2017.

However, the minister sacked the same man he promoted in December 2016 on August 26, 2017 allegedly for accommodating his friend.With the permission of the Minister, Secretary Culture Akbar Leghari issued two notifications in a single day.

On August 26, he issued a notification demoting the officer. Later in the day, another notification was issued by the secretary sacking the STDC officer.

The officer said that he was removed from service despite the court’s restraining order.He added that the minister did an illegal act by removing him as he had himself promoted him to BPS-18.

He said that he was not being allowed to work despite the court restraining order. He alleged that the minister sacked him to give job to his friend.
