Death anniversary of renowned Pakistani Comedian Nirala being observed today.
The real name of Nirala was Syed Muzaffar Hussain Zaidi and he was born on August 8, 1937.
His family moved to Karachi after partition. For the first time, he appeared in the film, “Aur Bhi gham hain” in 1960, while the film was directed by A. H. Siddiqui. He was also honored with Best Comedian of Nigar Awards in the film ‘Arman’, which was first Urdu Platinum Jubilee film. Nirala worked in more than 100 films. His memorable films included Saperan, Mr. X, Sharaarat, Choti Behan, Heera Aur Pathar, Armaan, Ahsan, Samandar, Aisa Bhi Hota hai, Honhaar, Phir Subah Hogi, Dauraha, Zameen ka Chand, Insaan aur gadha, Nawab Zada, Ghar Damaad, Raja, Ujala, Anjanay Raastay, Waqt ki pukar, Meray laal, Meray Bachay meri aankhein, Jahan tum wahan hum, Salgira, Phir Chaand Niklay ga, Assalam-o-Alaikum, Naseeb Apna Apna, Jhuk Gaya Aasman, Neend Hamaray Khawab tumharay, bay eman, anmol, sahray kay phool, dushman, usay dekha usay chaha, ganwar, dilruba and Rootha na karo. His last film was Choron ka Badshah.
Nirala was also a poet and was known as Naseem Lucknowi. His poetry had profound effects of Jigar Murad Abadi and Akhtar Sherani. He also written Marsias, Nauha and Salam, but none of his collections could be published.
Nirala died on December 9, 1990 in Karachi and was buried there.
