Eid-ul-Fitr Being Celebrated in Most Countries in ME, Europe, USA

Riyadh (June 25, 2017): Muslims in most countries around the world including those in most  Muslim-majority countries  in the Middle East and Asia as well as those living in most European countries and the United States are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today.

The Saudi royal court announced that the first day of Shawwal would fall on Sunday, according to local media reports.

In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee will convene a moon-sighting meeting in Peshawar at sunset today. The government has already announced three holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, from June 26 to 28.

The Meteorological Office has forecast strong chances of Shawwal moon being sighted this evening which would mean Eidul Fitr being observed across Pakistan tomorrow that is Monday June 26. A festive mood has already swept across the country.

Meanwhile, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in most Saudi Arabia, Gulf states, Turkey, Malaysia and a many other Muslim countries today.

Eid-ul-Fitr is the day of celebration for Muslims on the first day of Shawwal after the month long- 29 or 30 days as it may be depending on the sighting of moon- fast in Holy month of Ramdan.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Auckland, New Zealand  donated festive food and icecream to feed the homeless at the Auckland City Mission ahead of Eid ul Fitr.

About 100 chicken curry and rice meals, organised by members of Masjid Umar in Mt Roskill, were served to the hungry on Sunday. Organiser and member of the Mt Roskill Islamic Trust Hanif Patel, 60, said helping people in need was one of the five pillars of Islam.

Muslims in New Zealand will be celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow.
