Sattar Denies Change of Karachi Mayor, Dep Mayor

Karachi (September 24, 2017): Chief of MQM Pakistan Farooq Sattar has rejected the news over the changing of Mayor Waseem and Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra of Karachi.

We have asked the Mayor as well as the other departments and institutions to use whatever resources and powers to get the thrash and garbage lifted from across the city, he added while talking to media after reviewing the ongoing development projects in Hussainabad area here.

Saying that his party stands along with the local Bodies representatives Farooq Sattar said that his party wants to prove to the people within next six months that it could perform and work despite restricted authority and powers.

Serving the people is our aim and we are reviewing the performance of all the elected institutions as the party completes its one year of formation and any lapses and deficiencies would be corrected after this review, he added. Though Sindh government manages and runs the affairs of Water and Sewerage Board is also managed but we are focusing our attention on basic works.

Talking on the occasion Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar said that Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah is also interested in developments in Karachi and he has asked us to sit with him to help resolve the various problems the city is facing.

The Local Bodies government in Karachi is under the provincial government and though in 2016-17 a sum of Rs 14 billion was released the funds was not released to The Karachi Municipal Corporation but to the then Administrator Karachi, he added.
