Former PM Nawaz To Appear Before AC Today

Islamabad (September 26, 2017): Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will appear before Accountability Court in Islamabad today.

According to the details, Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will appear before the accountability court today, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader has confirmed.

Speaking to media on Monday following Nawaz Sharif’s arrival in Islamabad from London, PM’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs Senator Asif Kirmani confirmed the former premier would appear before the National Accountability Bureau court on Tuesday.

Asif Kirmani said PML-N has always held the courts in high esteem.

He said the former Prime Minister will also address a news conference after the court appearance

Denying rumors about any rifts in the party, he said consultations within the party continue, but rumors are only wishful dreams of the opponents.

Earlier, Nawaz consulted senior party leaders on the developments following NAB summons.

In its July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case, the apex court had ordered NAB to file references against the Nawaz, his sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz, daughter Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Safdar and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar within six weeks of the announcement of the judgement.

Nawaz was in London to look after his ailing wife, Kulsoom Nawaz, who’s suffering from lymphoma, and has had three surgeries so far.On his arrival, he was received by adviser aircraft Sardar Mehtab, federal minister Pakistan Railways Saad Rafique, governor Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Talal Chaudhary, Pervaiz Rasheed and other party members.

Talking to media on Monday, he reaffirmed that his family did nothing wrong, hoping that they will triumph in accountability court. “Political unrest caused damage to Pakistan. Situation should be eased,” he added. It has been announced by him that he will address an important press conference tomorrow after NAB court appearance.

“I never planned to stay back in London had only come to take care of my wife, neither are we corrupt nor have looted money from the state treasure,” he had said.

Sources told that the ex-PM has decided to take allies into confidence about his reviewed political strategies, election plan and court matters. It has been decided to construct effective strategy for coming future.

The former PM has been staying at Punjab House since arrival and held meetings with PML-N leaders. He also met Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi earlier today where the PM briefed him about ongoing government policies.

Ex-Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana, ministers Daniyal Aziz, Zahid Hamid, Abdul Qadir Baloch, Senator Asif Kirmani, Pervaiz Rashid and Sardar Mehtab Khan also met Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad.

Nisar expressed his reservations on the PML-N policies while inquiring about the health of Nawaz Sharif s Kulsoom Nawaz who is under medical treatment in London.

Disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan called on PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif at Punjab House on Monday.

According to sources, Nisar first inquired into the health of Nawaz’s wife, Kulsoom, who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma in London.

Sources said Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Senators Pervaiz Rashid and Asif Kirmani and the prime minister’s aviation adviser, Mehtab Khan Abbasi, were in a meeting with Nawaz when Nisar reached the premises.

Later, a one-on-one meeting began between the two.

Sources said Nisar reposed his full confidence in Nawaz’s leadership, but aired his grievances as well.

Last week, Nisar criticised fellow party leader and Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, over his ‘in-house cleanup’ statement.

He also lambasted the government over its failure to condemn a US drone strike in Kurram Agency this month.

Earlier, Nisar made public his disagreement over the heightened role of Maryam Nawaz in the party affairs. Maryam successfully led the campaign for the NA-120 by-election in Lahore on behalf of Kulsoom, the PML-N candidate.Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi  also met Nawaz on Monday after his return from London earlier today.

The two discussed matters related to the party and the political situation of the country.

Abbasi also discussed development projects with the former premier.

Following his disqualification, he (Nawaz Sharif) was also relinquished of his party head stature, however, later the Senate on Friday passed the Electoral Reforms Bill 2017 paving way for the former PM Nawaz Sharif to regain PML-N’s chairmanship.
