Islamabad (September 9, 2017): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the government is committed towards poverty alleviation and enabling poor earn their livelihoods.
He said this during a briefing on the performance of the Benazir Income Support Programme given to him by BISP Chairperson Marvi Memon in Islamabad on Friday.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for enhancing transparency and operational efficiency of the program. Marvi Memon apprised the Prime Minister that the budget allocation for BISP has been increased to 121 billion rupees.
She said quarterly stipend has been enhanced from 3000 rupees per quarter in 2013 to 4834 rupees per quarter.
She said over354,847 BISP households have been enrolled in Prime Minister’s National Health Program.
