India: 30 Children Die at UP Hospital

New Delhi (November 7, 2017): At least 30 children died during just 48 hours at the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur city which is the parliamentary constituency of Uttar Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

It may be mentioned here that 105 people had died at the same hospital for lack of medications.

Professor Dr. Shri Vastav informed that 15 children died at the nursery while the remaining 15 died at the ICU department of the hospital.

Police has registered a case against nine persons including the principal of the College and initiated investigations.

In August, 63 children at died at the same hospital within a week due to problem related to the supply of liquid oxygen.

Gorakhpur DM Rajeev Rautela had denied that 30 children who died at the hospital within two days in Agust had died due to lack of oxygen, he confirmed that there was shortage of liquid oxygen at the medical college and that due to non-payment of Rs 70 lakhs (about Dh401,000), the vendor supplying oxygen has stopped supply.
