Damaging pitch costs Jadeja points, 50% match fee

ICC fined Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja 50 percent of his match fee for causing otherwise avoidable damage to the pitch on the second day of the third Test against visitor New Zealand at Indore.

Umpire Bruce Oxenford pulled Jadeja up while he had scored 17 runs off 27 balls for repeatedly running down the pitch. New Zealand was awarded five penalty points for Jadeja’s action.

Jadeja, who also earned three demerit points for the action, is only one more two-year duration demerit point away to get suspended from one Test, or two ODIs, or two T-20s whichever comes first.

Jadeja was earlier warned during the ongoing series. He was warned twice for cutting across the pitch and the danger area when appealing for a wicket during the Kolkata Test.
