Karachi (October 23, 2017): Declaring a police encounter fake the Sindh High Court ordered to release arrested suspects.
The court declared an alleged police encounter in Mahmoodabad area of the city fake ordered granted bail of arrested suspects Suhail Saleem and Owais Akhtar on surety bonds of Rs 300,000 and ordered them released from the jail.
Justice Naimatullah called the proofs and the evidences presented by the police and the prosecution cooked-up and ambiguous. Looking at the proofs and evidences presented by the police and the prosecution the police encounter appears to be fake while nothing was recovered from the suspects at the scene of crime. Did any policeman or any civilian got injured from the latest weapons that were fired, Justice Naimatullah asked.
The police had deposed before the court that the two suspects named above were arrested after an encounter on July 17 an that a case against them is registered at Defense police station.
It may be mentioned here that the two had approached the Sindh High Court after their bail applications were rejected by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).
