Kidney Scandal: Court issues physical, traveling remand of accused

Lahore (May 17, 2017 Report by Shakir Awan): A local court has issued travel remand of kidney scandal accused Dr. Fawad and Altamash, handing them over to Islamabad police, while the court also handed over five other accused involved in the scandal to FIA on three-day physical remand.

Camp Jail Police, over judicial orders, presented the accused Dr. Fawad and Dr. Altamash to Judicial Magistrate Farooq Azam’s court. Police told the court that there are illegal kidney transplantation cases registered against detained doctors, adding that the doctors were identified by the arrested agents, on which court allowed traveling remand of the accused Dr. Fawad and Dr. Altamash, handing both accused to Islamabad police.

Meanwhile, FIA presented five other accused involved in kidney scandal to Judicial Magistrate Farooq Azam and requested the court for physical remand of the accused, on which the court, while handing over the accused to FIA, issued three-day physical remand of accused Dr. Zafar Javed, Abdul Majeed, Saqib, Umar and Fazeel.
