MOSCOW: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif called on his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu in Moscow and discussed matters of mutual interest with him.
According to sources regional situation including Afghanistan also came under discussion. Khawaja Asif informed his Russian counterpart about the measures taken under the border management. Pakistan is taking all necessary measures to safeguard is sovereignty, Khawaja Asif told his Russian counterpart.
Earlier, addressing International Security Conference Khawaja Asif said that India has not responded positively to Pakistan’s honest efforts for peace. Pakistan considers US attack on Syria foreign interference and Syrians have to decide whether its their basic right to govern.
Pakistan supports Russian role at Astana talks for reconciliation in Syria and will support Russian measures to achieve this objective, Khawaja said. Russia should lead the process to bring stability to Afghanistan, he added.
