MQM, PSP Alliance: Musharraf Vows To Form Grand Alliance

Karachi (November 8, 2017): The former President and head of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML)  Pervez Musharraf hailed Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Sirzameen Party (PSP) alliance and termed it welcome step in Karachi politics and vowed that his party will form grand alliance in Sindh.

In his reaction over the alliance of MQM-P and PSP, Pervez Musharraf said that he was glad to see unity of Muhajir nation in shape of MQM and PSP alliance, however they should move forward to promote the ideology of Pakistan first.

“PPP can be defeated in Sindh by setting up grand alliance and All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) will soon bring a strong political party after making political alliance,” he said.Musharraf reaction came over Mutahida Qaumi Movement Pakisan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Sirzameen Party (PSP) joining hands to avoid splitting of Muhajir vote.

“MQM, PSP will contest next election on a one symbol, one party and one manifesto,” Farooq Sattar said.

Farooq Sattar said MQM-P hosting the press conference welcomed PSP leaders and workers.

He said the main and first purpose of the conference to stop division of votes of Sindh urban areas.

“MQM will strongly oppose political torture and will tried to restore peace in the city,” he said.

Earlier, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) leader Mohammad Amjad Wednesday said if the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) become part of their alliance, then Pervez Musharraf may assume the role of [their] leader.

The announcement came shortly before the MQM-P and PSP formally announced regrouping with “one name, one symbol and one manifesto”, a year after the two political factions announced complete disassociation from their former leadership based in London.

Speaking at a press conference here, Amjad recounted that Musharraf had advised [them] to work together and change the name of the MQM, and serve everyone including ‘Mohajirs.’

“Musharraf conveyed this message before and it is still there today,” he said, adding that doing so will help the MQM get into the national fold.

The APML leader said Musharraf was offered to lead the MQM in the past, but he declined to assume leadership of the MQM and PSP.

“They (MQM and PSP) should change their respective names and form a new party,” Amjad suggested. “Everyone knows what compelled the two parties to unify today.”

“If they become part of our alliance, then Musharraf may assume role of [their] leader,” he said.On October 23, chief of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf had announced to return to Pakistan before next general elections.

Addressing a ceremony of opening the APML’s office of Karachi Central in FC Area Liaquatabad via telephone from Dubai, the former president said that country needs a third force and we shall expel the thieves and those who plundered Pakistan from politics.

He said that honest leadership will win with the support of the people. “Meetings will be held in Karachi Central and other areas. Pakistan’s future is bright,” he added.
