Pro-Nawaz Legislation: MQM to Take Action Against Senators: Sattar

Karachi (September 23, 2017): Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan Chief Farooq Sattar on Saturday announced to take action against any party Senator who voted in favour of an amendment to Political Parties Order 2002 that paved the way for Nawaz Sharif to become party head.

Talking to mediate outside ATC, Sattar said that how a person disqualified by Supreme Court can head a political party.

He added that PTI and MQM supported the amendments proposed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).He termed the bill tabled by PML-N in Senate to amend Political Parties Order as illegal, adding that if any MQM member had voted for the bill action would be taken against him.

He said that if a person cannot participate in active politics, then how he can lead a party.According to the clause, a disqualified person cannot be an office-bearer of any political party in case of his disqualification as member of the parliament.

 

According to Sattar, the MQM-P supported the amendments introduced to the bill by the Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.The MQM-P chief said that the law is against the Constitution and the spirit of the Articles, 62 and 63.

On the subject of Karachi package of Rs25 billion announced by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sattar said that the package is the right of the city and soon work will start on the plan.Earlier, the ATC heard cases relating to provocative speech of MQM founder against Sattar, Qamar Mansoor and other MQM leaders and workers.

The court set October 12 as date to indict the accused in the case. The copies of the case were provided to Sattar and Amir Khan.
