Islamabad (September 14, 2017): Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has demanding taking the powers of appointing chairman of National Accountability Burea (NAB) back from the treasury and the opposition for the appointment of impartial individual as per the diktat of justice.
If NAB had an impartial chairman the country would not have been in the mess that it is in today, he added.
Instead, Siraj added, NAB chairman should be decided jointly by the Chief Justices of the Supreme Court and the four High Courts of the country.

Under the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), 1999, the appointment of NAB chairman is made by the prime minister in consultation with the leader of the opposition.
Talking to media outside the Supreme Court here Siraj said that the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah are in consultations over the appointment of new chairman of NAB but his appointment shhould be made by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or by him after consultations with the provinces.
Asking ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif to accept the court verdict of his disqualification Siraj added that the review petition filed by Nawaz Sharif and others against the said verdict will not achieve anything.
We want rule of constitution and law and not that of families in this country and we also want accountability of 436 individuals whose names appeared in Panama Leaks. There should be accountability of all those who collected monies here and transferred overseas because corruption is financial terrorism against which action should be taken and we all have to get united to stop financial terrorists, he added.
Jamaat-e-Islami will not give a name for appointment of NAB chairman, Siraj concluded.
It may be mentioned here that NAB chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry is retiring next month.
