Nawabshah: Yet Another Oil Tanker Crash, Into School This Time

Nawabshah (August 3, 2017): A speeding tanker carrying oil went out of control, smashed into the boundary of a school and overturned late last night.

According to reports the tanker which was loaded with thousands of litres of furnace oil overturned on National Highway. It was on way to a destination in Punjab from Karachi.

The driver of the oil tanker was admitted in Qazi Ahmad hospital in seriously condition.

A major catastrophe was averted because the school was closed when the tanker carrying large quantity of highly inflammable cargo crushed into the school.

It may be mentioned here that tanker accidents and oil spills on highways and roads have become a routine in recent months.

Yesterday an oil tanker carrying 40,000 litres of highly inflammable fuel overturned on National Highway near Hala in Matiari. The driver of the tanker was injured I the accident. Police blamed driver negligence for the overturning of the oil tanker which was on its way to Daulatpur from Karachi.

In single day on July 16, 2017 three oil tankers turned turtle in separate accidents two different areas of the country. Two of these tankers overturned within hours here in Matirai while the third overturned in Punjab city of Faisalabad.

A tanker carrying 50,000 litres of the highly inflammable cargo turned turtle here in Matiari on National Highway. The oil tanker was on its way to Vehari from Karachi.

A few hours earlier that same day an oil tanker turned turtle spilling the highly inflammable liquid along Chiniot Road near  Adda 15 Mile in Jhang, Punjab.

On the same day a third tanker carrying the highly inflammable turning turtle near Nawan Lahore area in Faisalabad. The oil tanker turned turtle near Mochiwala Road here. The tanker was carrying 30,000 litres of oil.

On July 11 a tanker carrying 40,000 litres furnace turned turtle near Babbarlo by-pass on National Highway near Sukkur. The tanker was carrying the inflammable cargo to Kot Addu Power plant from Karachi.

On July 9, tanker loaded with highly inflammable motor fuel overturned in Burewala Road in Melsi near Vehari. A large number of people gathered at the scene of accident with whatever utensils they could find to fill drums with the highly inflammable diesel fuel.

On July 8, an oil tanker carrying over 50 thousands litres of diesel was overturned on Motorway near Hyderabad. The oil tanker was on its way to Moro from Karachi overturned on Motorway at Chari area some 32 kilometers off Hyderabad. The driver, who was severely injured and consequently taken to the hospital, reported to be drowsy caused the tanker to veer off from the Karachi-Hyderabad route and crash.

On June 25 an oil tanker overturned in Ahmedpur Sharqia near Bhawalpur and burst into flames as hundreds of poor local residents were collecting the highly inflammable oil. The death toll kept rising till it hit the 221 figure
