ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Friday that negotiations are being initiated with Iran for signing the Free Trade Agreement.
Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan told the House during question hour that the government is undertaking consistent efforts to get additional market access for Pakistani products in the international markets.
He said that FTA negotiations with Turkey and Thailand are at on advanced stage. He said a joint research study to assess the potential for preferential trade agreement is also underway.
The Minister said that Trade Development Authority is undertaking various export promotion activities in order to promote exports to new markets. Exim Bank is being established to facilitate export credit.
He said the Board of Directors of the Bank has been appointed and it will be made functional soon after completing the technical formalities.
