Panamagate hearing adjourned till tomorrow, PM’s counsel says no proofs presented

The five-member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa has adjourned hearing the Panama Leaks case seeks seeking declaring Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to hold his position over the revelation of of the names of his children in the Panama Papers.

Counsel of the prime minister Makhdoom Ali Khan who continued arguing his side of the case from yesterday argued that no concrete evidence was presented by the petitioners to prove the accusations.

He has argued that his client has nothing to do with any offshore neither in the past nor now company and owns no offshore company in British Virgin Island. My clinet is not a director, shareholder, or beneficiary of any offshore company, he added.

He also said the petitioners plastered many accusations on his client the prime minister and his family but he has not being accused of lying but that Maryam Nawaz is his dependent and also that he remains no more eligible to remain a member of parliament for not declaring his assets. He also informed the court that the Tax Number of the gifts giver is not available but the Tax Number of Hussain Nawaz is there.  The prime minister did not use the word about his children starting business in his speech but had said that his father had set up steel mills outside the country.  Nawaz Sharif has nothing to do with London properties, Makhdoom added.

Imran Khan, Shaikh Rasheed, and others were present in the court.

Counsel of one of the petitioners PTI Naeem Bukhari, chief of Awami Muslim League Shaikh Rasheed, counsel of Jamaat-e-Islami Taufiq Asif have already finished arguing their case yesterday.
