Islamabad (July 14, 2017): Islamabad High Court rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s plea to stop seeking Election Commission’s proceedings of party funding case against it. The court also rejected PTI’s plea for issue order in the said case.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard PTI’s petition challenging the jurisdiction of Election Commission in the case. PTI argued that EC has no power to hear the case and had plead the court to stop EC from hearing the case.
Rejecting PTI’s plea the court said that case is being under hearing since 2014 while the Hig Court has also sent the this case back to EC before.
The court issued notice to the EC and Akbar S Babar directed the parties to submit their replies. Removing the objection of the Registrar Office the court adjourned the hearing of the case indefinitely.
It may be mentioned here that PTI has challenged May 8 judgment of the EC over party funding case. The judgment said that EC would continue hearing the case.
