My Conscience is Clear, Will Continue Struggle: Nawaz Sharif

Islamabad (July 29, 2017): The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has vowed that his party (PML-N) will continue its efforts to get destination of developed and prosperous Pakistan.

Presiding over the party’s parliamentary meeting, former PM said that few propagated that some of the MNAs have left the party but participation of parliamentarians in larger numbers proved their claims wrong.

“PML-N is stronger than before and will further strengthen despite Supreme court ruling,” Nawaz Sharif said that every coming day will much better from the passing day.

Expressing disbelief on the grounds for his dismissal Nawaz Sharif said that he would continue to struggle for the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law in the country.

“I could not understand the grounds for my dismissal,” Nawaz Sharif said during a meeting of his party’s parliamentary representatives.

He continued, “When I never took a salary, what would I declare,” he said, referring to the Supreme Court judgment that led to his ouster. “When you take something, there’s a problem; when you don’t, there’s a problem,” he observed.

He asked was it only his family that should be held accountable “Is everyone else in this country sadiq and ameen?”

He highlighted his political struggle and said that “My struggles throughout my life — to be exiled, to be jailed, to be sentenced for 27 years in jail, to be called a hijacker when I was the sitting prime minister — I have seen all that and suffered all that. There have been prime minister’s before me, they’ve been hanged, and you’ve seen that.”

“I am a ideological person and due to my ideology I was punished several times but don’t have any regret,” he said adding that had he not ideological than accepted the offer of dollars five billion by the than Us president Bill Clinton in reward for not conducting nuclear blasts.

Reminding his development work in the country during his tenure , former PM said that he brought 56 billion dollar investment in the shape of CPEC that was unprecedented in Pakistan history. “We have constructed net of motorways, roads, highways, and once the stock market 100-index  touched to 19000. 70 to 80 percent terrorism has been eliminated from the country.

“I do not care for myself: I only care for this country and its people,” the former prime minister said.

Commenting over the SC judgment he said that everyone in the world was talking about the it, read their publications, look what they’re saying. What more can I add?

He continued, “Nonetheless, like a jawaan who is willing to sacrifice himself for the country, I will always defend the rule of law and the Constitution for this country,” he said. “I want my party leaders to support me in this. The 200 million people of this country are looking at you. Whatever happened has happened: I am happy there’s no blemish on my character.”

“We have to change Pakistan. I will support you day and night. I do not want power — this will be my struggle for the country. If we do right by this country, we will walk with our heads held high. I am no longer the prime minister, but I am still willing to do my bit.”

“I do not want my life to go to waste. I want my struggle to bear fruit for this country. The 200 million people of this country deserve it. Again, I have no thirst for power. I no longer desire office — I only desire that my country is free of its burdens.”

Zahid Hamid has briefed the meeting over the Supreme Court’s verdict in which PM Nawaz Sharif was stand disqualified.

The meeting will formally announce the name of Shahabaz Sharif as new PM, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as interim PM and Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman as news Chief Minister Punjab.

Parliamentarians stood and warmly welcomed as the arrival of Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the meeting.
