Postmortem Report claims ‘Suzi died of Cardiac Arrest’

Lahore (May 19, 2017): The autopsy report has revealed that sole elephant of Lahore Zoo, Suzi, died due to heart attack.

According to the details, thirty- one years old Suzi, which died last week at the Lahore Zoo, was suffering from several diseases including ulcers and infection in her intestine and high uric acid.

The postmortem report of the female elephant revealed that she had fallen on the ground during night at around 2:30am and struggled for four hours to survive.

Suzi’s liver was also not functioning properly and she was also suffering from heart disease, the report added.

It also stated that wounds were also seen in his intestines as her legs were too weak therefore she could not bear her wait and fell down. Report also said that Suzi already had reached her natural age of dying. The autopsy report was prepared by seven-member team.

Suzi was brought to Pakistan in the late 1980s, when she was only six years old.

She was the most attractive and popular animal among the visitors, especially children at the Lahore Zoo.

The elephant’s postmortem was performed by doctors from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS).
