PPP to Continue Struggle for Democracy, Judiciary: Bilawal

Islamabad (July 17, 2017):  The Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari lauded and saluted the struggle of lawyers and journalists for the sake of the democracy in the country.

According to the details, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto reiterated demand on Monday for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation, saying that the premier has lost all moral and legal ground for staying in office.

Addressing to ceremony in Islamabad to lawyers community, Bilawal said that the lawyers, who have been sacrificing their lives for the restoration of the judiciary and democracy were laudable as PPP will also continued its struggle for the democracy and judiciary.

He said that PPP wanted to implement access to information bill and autonomy for Human Rights Commission.

Later, in another ceremony at Islamabad Press Club, PPP chairman reiterated his demand of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resignation and said that he has lost moral and legal ground to retain PM slot and therefore he must resign immediately.

“Only few like Maulana Fazalur Rehman are with PM and hope they will soon leave their support for PM,”.

Bilawal also paid homage to the journalists struggle and said that he knew what kind of difficulties and problems they were facing, however despite all bottlenecks their struggle appreciable.

On the subject of Panama Papers, Bilawal Bhutto said that if Nawaz Sharif resigns, democracy will not be in danger.

He said that the PPP has been demanding the premier’s resignation as it is in the interest of the people and country.

Bilawal said that his party would produce good results in the 2018 General Elections.

While responding to a question, Bilawal said if the Sharif family does not accept the rule of law, the PPP will consider all other options.

The PPP chairman said that he expresses solidarity with the journalist community. He said that he will put forth the demand for legislation for protection of journalists.

Talking on the occasion, opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Shah said that PML-N never done politics because they do not know what is democracy.

“Laborers are the identity of PPP and his party has strong relations with them,” he said that PPP has been side by side with journalist for their rights including the wage board for them.

Today, the Supreme Court of Pakistan held proceedings of the Panama Papers case following the submission of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report on Monday. The Sharif family and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar submitted their objections on the JIT report to the court.

The JIT, formed in light of the apex court’s April 20 judgment to probe the Sharif family’s money trail, submitted its 60-day investigation report to the court on July 10.
