Punjab Imposes Sec. 144 During Muharram Across Province

Lahore (September 22, 2017): The government of Punjab has imposed the section 144 and banned pillion riding , for only on Muharram 9 and 10, to avert any untoward incident and maintain peace during the Muharram ul Haram across the province.

According to details under section 144, the congregation or procession of five or more than five people will be banned accept mourning congregations and rallies.

The Home department has also informed that without permission of district administration setting up mourning rallies, congregations, procession setting up fronts on buildings situated on Matimi Jaloos will be banned.

Additional Chief Secretary has also issued the ordered that the pillion riding will be banned on Muharram 9 and 10 across the province. It also banned carrying any kind of valuables to mourning congregations without search.

On the other hand CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the increase of the pace of the combing operation and summoned the report regarding the situation of surveillance camera installed on the Muharram ul Harram jaloos, walks through gates and lights.

Lahore: Security Plan for Muharram Finalized

Presiding over a high level meeting regarding Muharram, CM directed the police and law enforcement agencies to make sure strict security arrangements, activate peace committees and stoppage of heated materials.

He said that heated wall chalking and speeches will not be tolerated as Pakistan could not bear any terrorist activities in present tense conditions.
