Rawalpindi: 14 Burnt to Death in Van-Trawler Clash

Rawalpindi (September 12, 2017): 14 people were burnt to death, when a fire erupted after a horrible clash between a passenger van and a trawler near Chakri Interchange on Motorway today.

The fire brigade was called in, which brought it under control after some efforts. The local police was also called to assist in rescue and relief works, the Motorway Police spokesman said.

According to Motorway Police sources six people who were also serious burnt were shifted to PIMS hospital.

The sources further informed that the ill-fated passenger van was on its way to Rawalpindi from Jhang when it rammed into the trawler near Chakri Interchange.

According to Rescue sources six people died on the spot while seven more succumbed to serious burn injuries at PIMS hospital. A boy is among six injured people being treated at the hospital. The van driver is identified as Asif, spokesman of Motorway Police informed.
