Sh Rashid Moves ECP Against PM over LNG Contract

Islamabad (August 31, 2017): Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Rashid Sheikh Ahmed on Thursday moved to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi over perceived corruption in LNG import contract.  

Rashid in his reference filed in ECP sought the Commission to order Interior Ministry to put the name of Prime Minister on Exit Control List (ECL) .

The AML chief alleged that Rs200 billion corruption was committed in the LNG contract which was signed when the Prime Minister was Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources.He argued that after gross irregularities and corruptions in the LNG contact the Prime Minister remained no more ‘Sadiq’ and Ameen.

He also pleaded the ECP to de-notify the Prime Minister as member of National Assembly for not meeting the qualification terms stipulated in Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.Talking to media after filing the application in ECP, he said that a sea of cases were to hit the country against the bigwigs over their alleged corruption.

He claimed that big names were behind the LNG corruption. The AML chief claimed that it was first time in his life that he was asked to backtrack on the LNG case.
