French Spiderman Scales 29-story Hotel Without Ropes

Barcelona (June 16, 2017): French daredevil climber Alain Robert scaled a 29-story hotel here in Spanish capital with his bare hands and he achieved the fete in just 20 minutes.

Footage released Tuesday showed 54-year-old Robert, who is known as the “French Spiderman,” climbing the 114 meters (374 feet) of the Melia Barcelona Sky hotel without a safety harness.

Robert claimed to have reached the top of the glass-and-steel skyscraper in 20 minutes on Monday, according to his YouTube channel.

He was questioned by police on reaching the top, but was released without charge.

The free climber has scaled the world’s tallest structures, almost always without ropes or harnesses and often without permission. He also gives motivational speeches.

In April 2015 Alain Robert had scaled one of Dubai’s tallest skyscrapers, relying on just chalk and sticky tape on his fingertips to help him up the 75-storey high Cayan Tower in the emirate’s glitzy marina area.

It took Alain 70 minutes to climb the 1007-foot (307 meter) high structure and that too without  harness and little space for his feet on the ledges of the tower, which twists as it ascends.

Robert, who is often described as “French Spiderman,” is no stranger to scaling tall buildings.

In 2011, he climbed the world’s tallest tower in Dubai. Using a rope and harness to comply with organizers’ requirements, it took him just over six hours to scale the 2,717-foot (828 meter) tall Burj Khalifa.
