Spot Fixing case: Khalid Lateef, PCB counsel exchange heated words

Lahore (May 19, 2017): The counsels of Khalid Lateef and Pakistan Cricket Board exchanged some heated words during the PSL spot-fixing hearing of tribunal.

The lawyer for Khalid Latif, while speaking to media said that the tribunal mistreated his client as he is not being given a proper opportunity to present his defense on the case.

He said that Colonel Mohammad Azam kept interrupting and always brought new questions whenever his client Khalid Lateef started giving his point of view on the case, adding that he didn’t accept the PCB court, but if proceedings are being conducted under that, then everyone must follow the procedures.

He further said that PCB counsel has even called his arguments as blackmailing.

Badar Alam – counsel of Khalid Lateef – claimed that in the video presented to the tribunal, it is evident that Nasir Jamshed offered a number of times to Khalid Lateef which he refused.

On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi said that despite the claims made by the Latif’s lawyers, PCB has ample evidence against Khalid Lateef.

He said that Khalid Lateef met the bookie twice but didn’t report it to the PCB, adding that Lateef didn’t disclose anything till he was questioned by PCB.
