Sri Lanka Beat Zimbabwe after Dramatic Finish

Web Desk (July 18, 2017): Sri Lanka on Thursday beat Zimbabwe by 4-wickets and won the One Off Test after a dramatic finish on final day of the match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Sri Lanka chased down 388 runs which is the biggest chase of the country in its test history. It is also the largest target to chase in Sri Lanka and Asia as well.

The 121-run partnership between Niroshan Dickwella and Asela Gunaratne played a vital role in the win and denied Zimbabwe from the win.

Dickwella made 81 the best of his career and Gunaratne hit 72 runs. Sikander Raza, Sean Williams and Graeme Cremer bowled the lion’s share of the overs for the visitors as Sri Lanka looked to be done in by their own asset going into the fifth day needing 218 runs to win with seven wickets in hand.

Cremer was on his excellent who showed second best bowling figures in the match behind Rangana Herath who picked up 11 wickets.

Gunaratne remained unbeaten and strike 80, alongside Dilruwan Perera (29no), to help Sri Lanka finish on 391 for six and ensure their country of a first Test series since 2016.
