Sweden Ice hotel attracts tourists

Sweden’s Ice hotel is a travel icon – it’s sculpted from ice every winter when the nearby river Torne freezes and melts away during the spring.

But with the opening of the permanent Icehotel 365 this December, you can stay all year round.

Nestled in Swedish village of Jukkasjarvi, it’s the perfect winter getaway. Explore the snow-covered scenery, catch the Northern Lights or hop on a snowmobile for a local tour.

Inside is just as stunning as out; the hallways are sculpted with ice art, sparkling chandeliers and an ice bar.

In the summer, the domed roof is covered in wild flowers.

The new hotel has 20 suites and nine deluxe suites, as well as an art gallery. The deluxe suites each have a heated ensuite bathroom and private sauna.

There’s now a direct flight from the UK to Kiruna airport, which is just 20 minutes from the hotel.
