Two Female Tourists Stabbed to Death, Four Injured in Egypt

Cairo (July 15, 2017): At least two tourists were killed and four others were injured on Friday in a knife attack in Egypt’s Red Sea resort town of Hurghada.

According to the details an assailant with a knife attacked six female tourists in a beach resort area of the town, Egypt’s Interior Ministry said earlier about the incident. A suspect has been arrested, and victims were taken to a hospital, the ministry added.

Investigators believe the attacker swam from a public beach, according to the ministry. No names were immediately released. The attacker’s motive was still under investigation, the interior ministry said.

Friday’s attack comes more than a year after a similar attack in the same town. In January 2016, two men injured at least three European tourists in a stabbing at a hotel, authorities said then.

“He had a knife with him and stabbed each of them three times in the chest. They died on the beach,” El Palacio hotel Security Manager Saud Abdelaziz told the journalists.
