US to moderate support, if NATO allies do not honor military spending: Mattis

BRUSSELS: United States Defence Secretary Jim Mattis warned that they would moderate their support, if NATO allies did not honour military spending.

While talking to defence ministers of NATO countries, Jim Mattis said, ” America cannot care more for your children’s future security than you do.”

He said,”America will meet its responsibilities, but if your nations do not want to see America moderate its commitment to this alliance, each of your capitals needs to show support for our common defense.”

The US defence secretary urged NATO countries to allocate two percent of GDP for common defense. Mattis said that NATO members should fulfill their responsibilities towards common defence. He said that US will not spend money for the defence of any other country.
