KARACHI: In a grand display of national pride, a colossal 10,000 square foot Pakistani flag prepared in Karachi and routed to Lahore.
The flag hoisted at the Wagah Border on a towering 110-foot-high pole, facing the Indian Tricolour.
This new flag surpasses the previous national flag flown at the same location by 400 square feet, symbolizing Pakistan’s patriotic spirit.
The flag’s creation was part of the celebrations commemorating Youm-e-Takbeer, marking the historic victory of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos and the significance of May 28 in national history.
The production process was intensive, taking two weeks at a factory located in Karachi’s Korangi area. Around 25 skilled artisans worked tirelessly day and night to stitch and assemble the massive fabric.
Following the initial manufacturing phase, the materials were transported to Hill Park near Tariq Road. There, the crescent and star symbols were carefully drawn, cut, and stitched onto the expansive green canvas, completing the monumental national symbol.
Sheikh Nisar Parachamwala of VIP Flag Company said, “With this flag, we are breaking our own record. The previous national flag hoisted at Wagah measured 9,600 square feet; this one is around 10,000 square feet.”
He added that, the most critical and technical phase in the process was cutting the crescent and star – a task that requires extreme precision and craftsmanship to ensure perfect curves and angles.
