LAHORE: Punjab Police have registered a case against 11 police officials, including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sarwar Road Police Station, following a mistaken raid at the Lahore residence of Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan.
According to police, the raiding team was acting on intelligence regarding a neighbouring property but mistakenly entered the Attorney General’s residence during the operation.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that the officials exceeded their legal authority while conducting the raid. As a result, the SHO and 11 police personnel have been formally booked.
The AGP’s driver, Irfan, alleged that the SHO climbed over the main gate and entered the residence along with other officers while only domestic staff were present inside.
He further claimed that police officials seized the property’s CCTV surveillance system and later returned the digital video recorder (DVR) after deleting the recorded footage.
According to the driver, AGP Mansoor Usman Awan was attending a meeting at the time of the incident and rushed to the residence after being informed of the raid.
The complaint also alleged that several flower pots placed outside the house were damaged during the operation.
Meanwhile, the SHO of Sarwar Road Police Station has secured interim bail from the court pending further legal proceedings.
