ISLAMABAD: The 13th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Iran took place in Islamabad on Monday. Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch led the Pakistani side, while Iran was represented by Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi. Senior officials from both nations attended the discussions.
Both sides engaged in comprehensive talks, covering the full range of their bilateral relations and assessing progress on decisions from the previous round of consultations. They reached an understanding to enhance and diversify trade relations while expanding collaboration in areas such as energy, transport connectivity, education, and cultural exchanges.
Discussions also included perspectives on critical regional and global developments. Emphasizing the importance of regular institutional dialogue, both parties highlighted mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) and Joint Trade Committee (JTC) as essential tools for advancing mutual cooperation.
Additionally, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to working together at multilateral platforms, including the UN, OIC, and ECO, and strengthening dialogue on global and regional matters of common interest.
The consultations underscored the strong bonds between Pakistan and Iran, deeply rooted in shared history, cultural connections, and faith. It was agreed to convene the next round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Tehran at dates suitable for both nations.
