15 militants killed in intelligence-based operations across Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Security forces have killed 15 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted across several districts of Balochistan, security sources said on Sunday.

The operations were carried out under Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3 in Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai and Nushki, according to the sources.

A substantial cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered during the operations, while security forces reportedly dealt a major blow to militant networks operating in the province.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the security forces for the successful operations, saying their actions had disrupted the plans of militants affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij.

Naqvi praised the personnel involved for their professionalism and bravery, saying those engaged in the fight against terrorism remained a source of pride for the nation. He reiterated the government’s resolve to eliminate militant groups from Balochistan.

In a separate operation two days earlier, security forces killed three militants and detained 12 suspects during a search and sanitisation operation in the Kambela and Asimabad areas of Mastung, security sources said.

The latest operations come amid continued militant violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) report, the two provinces accounted for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities recorded across Pakistan during the second quarter of 2026.

The report said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded 475 deaths, representing more than 61% of the national total, while Balochistan reported 265 fatalities, or around 34%.

KP also registered 151 violent incidents, accounting for 57% of the nationwide figure, followed by Balochistan with 94 incidents, highlighting the continued concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.
