15 US personnel injures at Kuwait military base in Iranian Drone attack amid rising regional tension

KUWAIT CITY: An Iranian drone strike targeted the Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait, causing injuries to fifteen American service members, according to a CBS News report citing two US officials. Most of those wounded have since returned to duty. The strategic facility, located roughly 37 kilometers (23 miles) from the Iraq border, is a key hub for US regional operations.

Regional volatility has surged following the US and Israel’s joint strike on Iran on February 28th, which has reportedly resulted in over 1,340 fatalities, including the death of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that it had targeted several military aircraft stationed at the base using a combination of missile and drone attacks as part of Operation True Promise 4’s 98th wave. Iran has also launched retaliatory drone and missile assaults against Israel, while extending its attacks to Jordan, Iraq, and other Gulf nations hosting US military forces.

Additionally, Iran has imposed restrictions on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, further escalating tensions in the region amid ongoing hostilities.
