152nd Death Anniversary of Mirza Ghalib Being Observed

WEB DESK: The 152nd death anniversary of classical Urdu poet Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib is being observed today.

The known for unique in his poetry, Ghalib wrote hundreds of Ghazals in his life which have since been interpreted and sung in many different ways.

Mirza Ghalib is considered one of the most popular and influential poets of the Urdu language in South Asia.

Ghalib was born on December 27, 17967 in the city of Akbarabad. He was an all-time great classical Urdu and Persian poet. He wrote hundreds of Ghazals during his life, which have since been interpreted and sung in many different ways by different people.

Ghalib began composing verses at the early age of 10 or 12 and had written many of his best-known ghazals by the time he was 19. Ghalib today remains popular not only in India and Pakistan but also amongst the communities around the world

He died on this day at the age of 71 in New Delhi in 1869.
