SHC rejects Faisal Vawda’s petition to declare Waseem Akhtar unqualified

Sindh High Court (SHC) has rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vawda petition against Karachi’s Mayor Waseem Akhtar while Faisal said that he will not lose courage and go ahead.

The  SHC heard the filed petition to declare  Karachi’s elected Mayor Waseem Akhtar unqualified, the Petition was filed by the PTI leader Faisal Vawda, the petition argued that Waseem Akhtar has involved in serious crimes, henceforth, he will be barred to take oath.

At the occasion, the SHC Justice Muneeb Akhtar ordered the Faisal Vawda’s counsel to present legal reasons to stop the mayor for taking oath and the counsel could not present solid reasons.

Honorable Justice Muneeb Akhtar remarked that on which laws the mayor be barred to take oath adding that on just having allegations one could not be declared guilty and the honorable judge dismissed the petition.

Talking to media the PTI leader Faisal Vawda said that the country has a bad luck that someone who faces exile becomes Prime Minister and someone becomes president from  jail adding that it was his wish that the city got a mayor having no criminal record.

Faisal further said that the case was heard in hurry and he will follow the case at upper level.
