LARKANA: The first woman prime minister of Muslim World Benazir Bhutto’s 16th death anniversary will be celebrated today.
Sixteen years have passed since the martyrdom of Ms. Benazir Bhutto, the first woman prime minister of the Muslim world, on December 27, 2007, she was martyred in a suicide attack on her way back after addressing a rally in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi. The people of Pakistan are still saddened by the martyrdom of the leader, Benazir Bhutto buried in the premises of her father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Shaheed’s mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh area of Larkana.
Despite the passage of sixteen years, the real motives of Benazir Bhutto’s murder could not be revealed, after more than three hundred hearings, Judge Asghar Khan of the special court sentenced the five accused of TTP and two police officers to 17 years for criminal negligence. The year’s sentence, which was suspended by the High Court on appeal, the FIA named former President General Pervez Musharraf as the prime suspect in Benazir Bhutto’s murder, while the Special Anti-Terrorism Court declared it ad in the absence of the former president.
All movable and immovable property was ordered to be confiscated, the United Nations and Scortland Yard teams in the Zardari government could not reach any final conclusion, the report of both institutions remained ambiguous.
